Do you have (or did you have) one or more transgender parent(s)? Our Kids of Trans program is for you! COLAGE recognizes that people with transgender parents share many of the same experiences with children of lesbian, gay, and/or bisexual parents. People with transgender parents also encounter some unique challenges, such as dealing with transphobia or witnessing a parent's gender transition. In order to better support this portion of our constituency, we have created a specific program called Kids of Trans.

There are very few resources available for people with transgender parents and COLAGE is working to expand the support for and visibility of KOTs. Our program volunteers, who have transgender parents, conduct workshops and panels at transgender conferences to reach out to parents and organizers within the community. We also have an online Transgender Family Resources list and an online community for people with transgender parents.

In 2007-2008, COLAGE is excited to have a full-time staff member working to expand the Kids of Trans program. Monica Canfield-Lenfest joined the office staff in October to begin a five-month Kids of Trans Fellowship. In this role, Monica is building upon the volunteer work she has been doing over the past few years to further develop our Kids of Trans Program.
