COLAGE Kick Off & Family Photos

Come join COLAGE for our Family Week kick off! Youth will get to meet their facilitators, parents will get to mingle with each other and COLAGE staff, and everyone can participate in fun crafts and games! This year, we will also be taking family portraits and giving everyone a free scoop of ice cream!

COLAGE Info Session for Parents

This is an info session for prosepctive and current LGBTQ+ parents about COLAGE and our programming. Whether you are registered with COLAGE or not, you are welcome to join this info session and learn what COLAGE programming offers, and how we can best support our youth.

Workshops

8-18 year olds registered with COLAGE are welcome to join our daily workshops that are led by trained facilitators who have LGBTQ+ parents/caregivers for youth with LGBTQ+ parents/caregivers. All workshops priortize community building, games, and social justice conversations/activites. The Monday Waffles workshop is Welcome & Our Families. Crew is Welcome & Trans Liberation. High School is Welcome & LGBTQ+ Gamified History.

Lunch Chats

Youth lunch chats on Monday are for People with Trans Parents, Adopted COLAGErs, Donor Conceieved COLAGErs, and COLAGErs whose Parent Came Out. Please ensure that your youth brings their own lunch if they intend to eat during the lunch chats.

Drag Bingo & Silent Auction with Miss Conception

The Unitarian Universalist Meeting House

The whole family is welcome to join us for Drag Bingo with the incredible, glamorous and hilarious Miss Conception! Come share your love, your laughter and your wallet for an afternoon to benefit COLAGE. Come for the queen, the kitsch, and the prizes. Play 1 round for $5; 2 for $8; 3 for $10 or 4 for $12. There will be a table of raffle and silent auction baskets including a Parents Getaway, A Green Thumb Gardeners Basket, a Family Game Night box, and a Fine Art package. And did we mention, the notorious Scott, will provide cupcakes? This is a FUNdraiser for COLAGE. Doors open at 1:45pm. Buy tickets for the first seating here!

Day 1 of the FIT program. Youth entering their junior and senior year of High School are eligible to participate in our FIT program to work with facilitation experts and hone their skills to prepare them to be a COLAGE facilitators once they’re out of High School.

3pm – 3:30pm

Youth Action Board Info Session & Pizza

MacMillan Pier

High Schoolers are welcome to come learn more about what the Youth Action Board is all about and how to join. This is great event to attend for any High Schooler interested in being involved with COLAGE year-round. Free pizza will be provided!

3:30pm – 4:15pm

All workshops priortize community building, games, and social justice conversations/activites. The Tuesday Waffles workshop is Gender Identity and Difference & Allyship. Crew is Racial Justice & Disability Justice. High School is Race, Racism, & Settler Colonialism.

Looking for something to do when you drop off your COLAGEr? Facilitated by a group of COLAGE parents, COLAGE Community Connections is piloting a program for parents/caregivers that runs concurrently to youth workshops. This is a great way to meet other COLAGE families and build connections at Family Week and beyond. Tuesday’s topic is Introductions & Intersectionalities.

12pm – 1pm

Youth lunch chats on Tuesday are for BIPOC COLAGErs and white COLAGEr allies. Please ensure that your youth brings their own lunch if they intend to eat during the lunch chats.

Queerspawn Stories with Alysia Abbott and Jenny Laden

The Crown & Anchor

Join Authors Alysia Abbott and Jenny Laden for a special Family Week book talk about growing up with gay fathers during the height of the AIDS epidemic. Alysia is author of Fairyland – a New York Times Editors’ Choice and now a movie starring Adam Lambert and Geena Davis – and Jenny wrote and illustrated This Terrible True Thing – Winner of the Best Young Adult Audiobook, 2023. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

4pm – 7pm

Beach Bash (with Teen Zone)

Herring Cove Beach

The whole family is welcome to the Beach Bash at Herring Cove. COLAGE will have a Teen Zone available for high schoolers.

If you have one or more LGBTQ+ parent/caregiver and are 18+, come join us for conversation and connection. Those not registered with COLAGE are welcome!

All workshops priortize community building, games, and social justice conversations/activites. On Wednesday, Waffles will have the option to choose between Field Day or a Chill Zone workshop. Crew is Intersectionality & Activism. High School is Desire, Consent, and Healthy Relationships.

Looking for something to do when you drop off your COLAGEr? Facilitated by a group of COLAGE parents, COLAGE Community Connections is piloting a program for parents/caregivers that runs concurrently to youth workshops. This is a great way to meet other COLAGE families and build connections at Family Week and beyond. On Wednesday, parents can choose a chat for families created through interracial adoption, a lobby & coffee chat, or a walk & talk.

12pm – 1pm

Lunch Chats

Youth lunch chats on Wednesday are for COLAGErs with disabilities and non-disabled COLAGEr allies. Please ensure that your youth brings their own lunch if they intend to eat during the lunch chats.

Waffles, Crew, and High School youth are invited to particpate in a Privincetown Scavanger Hunt. Please arrive early or on time for check in, because we are blasting off at 3:00. There will be treats, treasures, and prizes. You don’t want to miss it!

On Thursday morning, COLAGErs will get to pick which “do-something” workshop they want to be in. There will also be an opportunity for them to present/perform what they worked on during the Variety Show on Friday. Waffles can choose from Painting, Book Making, Collaging, Theater, or Drag. Crew can choose from Writing, Collaging, Knitting & Weaving, Drag, Song-Making and Using Our Voice. High School can choose from Podcast Making, Song Making, Collaging, and Drag.

COLAGE Community Connections

Looking for something to do when you drop off your COLAGEr? Facilitated by a group of COLAGE parents, COLAGE Community Connections is piloting a program for parents/caregivers that runs concurrently to youth workshops. This is a great way to meet other COLAGE families and build connections at Family Week and beyond. Thursday’s topic is Break Out Groups for Parents with Waffles, Crew, and High School Youth.

12pm – 1pm

Youth lunch chats on Thursday are for 2nd Gen COLAGErs (COLAGErs who identify at LGBTQ+) and straight/culturally queer COLAGErs. Please ensure that your youth brings their own lunch if they intend to eat during the lunch chats.

Day 4 of the FIT program. Youth entering their junior and senior year of High School are eligible to participate in our FIT program to work with facilitation experts and hone their skills to prepare them to be a COLAGE facilitators once they’re out of High School.

Extra Do-Somethings

Town Hall

If youth are part of theater or drag do-somethings and need extra time to perfect their acts before Friday’s Variety Show, there will be time to do so here. Facilitators will make a final decision about this at Thursday’s morning Workshop. Meeting spot is on the side of the Town Hall on the lawn.

Come support the next generation! Families and community welcome to listen to our teens talk about what it’s like being a COLAGEr today, their challenges, their joys, and what they want to tell the world. This is an especially great place for parents prospective parents to listen to the wisdom of our youth.

Variety Show

Families are invited to watch our youth show off their creativity, projects, and talent at our annual Variety Show! This is COLAGE’s most popular event of the week, you don’t want to miss it!

Teen Dance

This event is for Crew and High School to dance and celebrate with us! This year, we’ll have a personlized photo booth for teens to capture their unforgettable friendships and memories! Crew leaves at 8pm so High Schoolers can have some time for just them.
