Julie Schanke Lyford

Julie Schanke Lyford (she/her) has lived as an activist throughout her life. The cause closest to her heart has always been LGBTQ+ families and same-sex marriages. She was trained by Minnesota United for All Families and traveled throughout Minnesota, giving speeches, working tirelessly in rallying the vote for Marriage Equity in Minnesota. She is one of our founding Retro COLAGEr members, for those born pre 1980 with senior LGBTQ+ parents/caregivers. Julie attended Family Week 2022 with her father as a presenter – reading her book “Katy has Two Grampas”  and offering her workshop: Storytelling as Activism. Julie Schanke Lyford lives in Minnesota with her family.
